Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful, #1) - Jamie McGuire I am not sure where to start with this book. I have never met two characters that were so stubborn and so irritating as Travis and Abby. Even with all of their flaws I could not love these two more. The book is all about the relationship these two have or don't have depending on the moment. Abby is a good girl who is trying to get away from her past and start over. Travis is this insanely intense, bad boy, tattooed man-whore that you can't help but fall for. These two have this crazy, instant, intense chemistry. When I say intense, I mean intense! Travis can't stand when guys even look at Abby which does not go well with his temper. He is very short-tempered and acts like he owns Abby which I did find a bit scary at times. These two are very dependent on each other and don't do well when they are apart. Having said all of that I couldn't help but love this book and I couldn't put it down. One of my favorite things about this book is how flawed Travis and Abby are. I have to commend Jamie for writing characters that are real, flawed and raw. Not everyone is perfect and that was refreshing to read. This book is not for young readers. It is very intense and depicts a very co-dependent side of relationships. Abby and Travis are damaged and as a result they have a very dysfunctional relationship with each other. Even though their relationship doesn't seem to be very healthy it works for them. They are definitely right for each other and can't seem to live without one another.I have to talk about the chemistry between Abby and Travis for a minute. Holy moly the chemistry is something else. Not only do they become friends pretty instantly but there relationship develops pretty quickly. Abby is different from all of Travis' other girls. She isn't just some girl he wants to screw and kick out of his apartment when they are done. This book is definitely New Adult. There are some very steamy moments.Get ready for a crazy, emotional roller coaster ride. There are twists and turns that you won't seem coming and moments that leave your heart racing. There is never a dull moment with these characters. Abby and Travis are put through the ringer in this book and it makes for some very emotional moments. I have never read a book with a more appropriate title. Absolutely a Beautiful Disaster! Now it is time to get into Travis' head and read Walking Disaster. I can't wait to see things from his point of view and what is really going on in that head of his. Look for that review on the blog soon.

The Summer I Became a Nerd

The Summer I Became a Nerd - Leah Rae Miller This book was so ADORKABLE!! I received this book from the publisher. They asked me to read for the praise page and as I had been dying to read this book I of course said yes!!! Maddie is a typical cheerleader who is dating the quarterback. But deep down she is really a comic book nerd and is hiding that side of herself from everyone. She really wants to keep it that way but when the next issue of her favorite comic book is out she finds herself in disguise at the local comic book store. This is where she meets Logan who works there at his families shop. He is a major nerd who loves comic books and live action role playing. He uncovers Maddie's secret and sweeps her up into his world. Logan is the only one who knows her secret and she would like to keep it that way. Can Logan help her to be comfortable with who she really is? Or will she lose him because she is embarrassed?I loved Maddie's story. It was so sweet and something that teens go through everyday. Unable to be themselves for fear of being teased and ridiculed. I loved both main characters and especially loved Logan's best friend Dan. There were also major laugh out loud moments. You don't have to be a lover of comic books and all that goes into that world to enjoy The Summer I Became a Nerd. This is a book about being true to yourself and not caring what others think. I think it has a great message for teens and it also helped that Logan was so swoon-worthy. He reminded me of a boyfriend I had in high school who loved comic books. I found myself at the comic book store every weekend and even found myself enjoying it. Thanks Leah for the blast from the past! It is a truly adorkable read about being comfortable in your own skin and with who you are. Get ready to bring out your inner nerd!

Eleanor & Park

Eleanor & Park - Rainbow Rowell I had heard such great things about this book from so many different bloggers before I picked it up. I really was hoping that I didn't expect so much from it that it would let me down. It of course did not. I loved every minute of this book. It is the perfect story of first loves.Usually I cannot wait for a story to get right into the romance. It is of course my favorite part. But I loved that this book progressed to that slowly. I loved seeing Eleanor and Park going from not even speaking to each other on the bus to not wanting to be without each other.Eleanor is overweight, wears thrift store clothes and doesn't even own a toothbrush. She lives with her mom, step-dad and four siblings. She has to deal with a less than good home life. This book reminded me of how horrible it can be to be a kid. Eleanor was stuck living in this home that wasn't even really a home. I felt so bad for her. When she sat next to Park on the bus and their relationship started to develop I had a sense of calm come over me. I had a feeling that everything would work out for these two even with all the bumps I knew they would have to endure. This book is told in alternating POV's between Park and Eleanor. I am a fan of alternating POV's. It is nice to see things from someone else's view and not just have everything told from the side of one character. The ending was amazing! It was adorable and perfect. I will definitely look for other titles but the author. The writing and characters were wonderful and well developed. I felt attached to these two by the end of the book.
Pandemonium - Lauren Oliver I have to say I love this series and the world that Lauren Oliver has created. When I read Delirium I was so intrigued with a world where love was considered a sickness that needed to be cured. By the end of Delirium I was hooked and needed more of these characters and this world. However Pandemonium didn't quiet seem to meet my expectations and I am not really sure why. The only thing I can put my finger on is the lack of Alex. I loved the new characters and getting to see a glimpse into how the invalids live in the Wilds. I loved the fact that the chapters switched between then and now. A flashback to Lena's time in the Wilds and then the current story that is unfolding with her helping the resistance. I really didn't have a problem with Julian in general, but every time I read Julian and Lena's interactions my heart died a little. I guess he just simply isn't Alex. In Delirium when I read Alex and Lena's interactions my heart would flutter and race. I felt the chemistry, it felt real. For some reason with Julian I felt nothing. I am all for love triangles they make books interesting, this however just kind of upset me. Now I am not really one to scream aloud when reading, but the last page of this book definitely made me do just that. The last bit was what saved the whole book for me. Hopefully I don't want to kill Lena when I get my hands on Requiem. I have faith that she will make the right choice.
Spark (Brigid Kemmerer's Elemental Series #2) - Brigid Kemmerer Gabriel is an elemental just like his brothers. He can control fire and finds himself drawn to it. Fire is not always around though, unlike his brothers elements of earth, air and water so he has to create it himself sometimes to learn how to control it. He has always been able to rely on his brothers for help but he seemed very lonely to me in this book. His youngest brother Chris has Becca, his twin Nick is dating Quinn and his oldest brother Michael meets a girl as well. Gabriel is sort of left alone and spends time with Hunter who is also an elemental. That is until he meets Layne. She is a what some would call a nerd, dresses in turtlenecks and seems rather shy. Pretty much the complete opposite of Gabriel. But these two have more in common than they think. For quiet sometime Gabriel's twin Nick has been doing his homework and taking his tests for him. But when the new teacher catches on Gabriel looks to Layne to help him get through this math class so that he will not be kicked out of sports. When a series of fires break out in town everyone seems to be looking to Gabriel as the culprit He is drawn to the fires as much as he is drawn to Layne. The fires also bring up memories from Laynes past. Will these two be able to get past all the obstacles in their way and will Gabriel learn to control his element?I loved this book from start to finish and ate up every word. While I do love all the Merrick brothers, Gabriel found such a special place in my heart. He really does get put through the ringer in this book. With his brothers all off with their girlfriends he is left to fend for himself most of the time. I really just wanted to wrap him up in a big hug and tell him it would all be ok. While it was nice to see his vulnerable soft side at times lets not forget that Gabriel is a bad boy with a bit of an attitude who can control fire. What's not to like right?Another character that we meet in this story is Layne's brother Simon. Simon is deaf and has been bullied at school because of it. I loved the interactions between Gabriel, Layne and Simon. The fact that Gabriel doesn't know sign language but gives Simon his phone to type out a text so they can communicate was just so cute and sweet. He really defends Simon against the bullies and tries to help him with his basketball goals. Most of the time Gabriel is such a badass with a bad attitude, it was nice to see this vulnerable sweet side of him. I think it is great that authors touch on these subjects that are real issues in everyday life. I hope we get to see more of Simon in the books to come, I really loved this character. It is very rare that I find a series where I have to read all of the books one right after the other. Usually I will pick up the first book and then read a few others between it and the second. However, with the elemental series there was no waiting. I read both books and the two novellas right in a row. Now I have to patiently wait for the third in the series Spirit. I can't wait to see what Kemmerer has in store for these characters next. I am sure that it is something that will shock me and leave me wanting more.

Elemental (Elemental, #0.5)

Elemental (Elemental, #0.5) - Brigid Kemmerer Even though this story was very short it is one of my favorites in this series. I love the oldest Merrick brother Michael. It was good to hear his story and to hear what started everything for these brothers. I actually ended up reading this book after having already read the first book in the series Storm. I haven't read many books that center around male lead characters and this series has four. Usually it is all about the heroine and I love seeing the males in the story taking center stage.Michael is an earth elemental with great power. His parents have made a deal, a deal that is designed to keep Michael and his brothers (who are also elementals) safe. However the catch is that Michael will not use his power. Of course the other elementals in town try to get him to break the deal constantly. So far so good. But when he meets Emily the sister of the elementals that have been tormenting him he finds it hard to hold up his end of the deal and he finds it hard not to fall in love with her. I loved Michael and Emily's story, I just wish there was more of it! If you have not read this series yet you should get started today. You will not regret it.

Storm (Brigid Kemmerer's Elemental Series #1)

Storm - Brigid Kemmerer Holy awesomeness! This book was amazing from start to finish. What's not to like about a book with four hot brothers who control the elements?Becca has been labeled the town slut at school, all because her ex boyfriend spread rumors about her. But her whole world changes when she saves Chris Merrick from being beaten in the school parking lot. I couldn't help but fall in love with Chris. Chris and his brothers Michael and the twins, Nick and Gabriel can control the elements, earth, air, fire and water. These brothers fight like your typical brothers but they also really care about each other and are there for each other. There parents are dead and they are all each other has.Becca goes on a real journey throughout this story. She learns a lot about who she really is. She seems to have real chemistry with Chris but then the new guy Hunter enters the picture and she seems to have some chemistry with him as well. There is a big love triangle in this book and I loved every minute of it. Usually I find myself only wanting the character with one guy. In this book though I couldn't really decided between Hunter and Chris. I really liked them both. The characters are so well written and seem so real. There wasn't a dull moment with these characters either. They fight with each other, they fight for their lives and some fight to find out who they really are. I cannot wait to read more books in this series. I am addicted to the Merrick brothers and you will be too.
Jellicoe Road - Melina Marchetta This is the first book I have read from this author. I was told by many bloggers and others that I should pick this one up and read it. I was also told to make sure that I stick with it, that I wouldn't regret it. I have to say that I am so happy I stuck with it. This is one amazing book.It takes a bit to get into to this book, but if you stick with it I promise you will happy that you did. In the beginning it can seem a little confusing. We are thrown into Taylor's world right from the start without any explanation and it is hard to tell which end it up. But the story does eventually work itself out. We get to a point where we settle in and can't help but fall in love with the characters in Taylor's life and those from her families past. One thing that I really loved about this book is that it is told from past and present. One from the view of Taylor which is present and one from a journal of sorts told from Hannah's point of view which is past. It did take me a bit to realize this but once I did I loved it.Much of this story is about Taylor trying to find her find way in life after being abandoned at a 7-eleven by her mother. Taylor pieces her life and her families life together with the help of Hannah's journal and some of her friends. I loved seeing Taylor find her way and find out who she is.Perhaps my favorite character is Jonah Griggs. He is just plain utterly amazing. He reveals some pretty raw truths about this life to Taylor that just about broke my heart. At one point I was reading in my office and I yelled out "holy hell" then proceeded to cry. This is a beautiful novel that has some very heartbreaking and amazing moments. Make sure you stick with it, you will not be disappointed.

Date Me (The Keatyn Chronicles)

Date Me - Jillian Dodd Date Me is the third book in the Keatyn Chronicles series. Just like with the first two books I couldn't put it down. Date Me starts off right where Kiss Me left off with Dawson having just asked Keatyn to Homecoming, and it is one big intense, crazy, emotional, awesome ride after that.Keatyn is at boarding school for her safety and the safety of her family. Her stalker Vincent is still out there and until he is caught she needs to lay low, stay away from her family and friends and not tell anyone who she really is. This book takes place over a period of three weeks which I cannot believe! So much happens in such a short amount of time.It is Homecoming time at Keatyn's school, a time when everyone's parents come to see their kids, especially the ones who are in the Homecoming Court. This was a real struggle for Keatyn. She loves her sister's and her parents and not being able to see them for fear of putting them in danger is really hard for her. Keatyn is so strong and really grows a lot throughout this book. If I was her I would be an absolute wreck. She really seems to hold it together most of the time and is able to hold her own. I really admire that about her.One of my favorite moments in this book is when Keatyn is on her way to meet Aiden and she stops to watch the sunset. Aiden ends up joining her and talking with her about his family and his mom's story. Such a sweet moment for these two.Perhaps my favorite relationship is the one between Riley, Dallas and Keatyn. Riley is Dawson's brother and one of Keatyn's best friends. He has such a sweet brother sister relationship with Keatyn. Riley is always there for her no matter what! You know you have a true friend when he holds your hair while you puke and then he cleans you up after. Riley is always there to give Keatyn (or has he likes to call her Baby) a shoulder to cry on and a listening ear. This is my favorite series by author Jillian Dodd. I have fallen in love with the characters and love how intense these books can get at times. There are moments that have you laughing out loud, moments that have your heart beating out of your chest and then there are those moments where the characters are vulnerable and you are in tears. My favorite part of the whole book comes at the very end. It is so GOOD! But make sure you DO NOT skip ahead and read it or the whole thing will be ruined for you. But trust me you will melt into a puddle of goo! I highly recommend this book and all the others in this series!

Prophecy Girl (Angel Academy)

Prophecy Girl - Cecily White I was given an e-arc in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book that I have read by Cecily White and I am sure that it won't be my last. When I started reading Prophecy Girl the first thought that came to mind was the TV shows Charmed and Supernatural. I was a huge fan of both these shows and I was immediately sucked into this book and the world that the author has created. This book is action packed from the get go. It gave me whiplash with all the twists and turns, but in a good way of course. Get ready for a wild ride because you won't know what to expect. Once you think you have it figured out everything changes.I really loved the main character Amelie. She was full of snark and tougher than nails. She also is able to show a slightly vulnerable side at times. Amelie is supposedly this huge threat that everyone is terrified of and as the prophecy also tells she will have to kill the man that she thinks she loves. Awesome twist that left my heart beating out of my chest page after page wondering what was going to happen. The world that Cecily has created is nothing short of amazing. She is so descriptive of this world and the things that take place that you can't help but imagine yourself right in the middle of it all. The way that the interactions between Amelie and her trainer Jack are described left my heart sighing. Such simple interactions that make you feel like sparks are flying, which they literally are! Most people know that I love a good love story and this one did not disappoint.Prophecy girl is one of the best books that I have read thus far in 2013. I will absolutely be recommending it to others. If you are ready to escape into a world of angel's and demon's, and are ready for a wild twisting ride, then you should pick this one up today. You will not be disappointed.

The Truth About Letting Go (The Truth, #2)

The Truth About Letting Go - Leigh Talbert Moore This book made me feel so many different emotions. It was a roller coaster for sure. Ashley has recently lost her father, her brother is off at college and she is left with her mother who is never home. With everything she is going through it has made her question things in her life. Ashley has always been part of the "popular" group at school but after two weeks away to cope with her father's death will this still be the case? She has also attended church with her family but does she still believe after everything she has been through? This book is a journey about finding yourself. There were definitely moments that made me cry and moments where I cringed and was let's be honest a bit creeped out. Ashley has lost her father and doesn't really know how to deal. There are two boys in this book that Ashley starts spending time with. She meets Jordan who is a skinny geeky guy but one that really seems to genuinely want to spend time with her. Then we have Colt who is a badass, doesn't obey the rules and wants to spend time with Ashley for a very different reason. The two boys in this book couldn't be more different from each other. One is all about right and wrong, church and is saving himself for marriage The other is all about breaking the rules, living in the moment and fooling around. While I was reading I really thought of these two as the angel and the devil sitting on Ashley's shoulder trying to sway her to their side. I loved Jordan. He is tall, dark and geeky! The perfect gentleman and perfect for Ashley. I loved their interactions with each other. He wants to help others, build them up and help show them right path. He tries to help Ashley face the fact that her dad has passed away and really wants to be there for her and help her through it. He isn't afraid to follow his dreams and stand up for what he believes in. I was not very fond of Colt. I am usually swooning over the resident bad boy but this guy just kind of creeped me out. Who would have thought I would fall for the geeky, skinny guy. Ashley finds herself with Colt because helps her to escape and forget that her father has passed away. In the moments that she is with him she doesn't feel. He is out to corrupt her and wants more from her than she might be willing to give. He was also responsible for some of my most cringe-worthy moments.Ashley also makes a new friend in Charlotte. Someone she would never think to make friends with. Which I loved! Sometimes the most unlikely friends are the best ones for us. Charlotte is overweight and is a big fan of Ashley's dad's column that he wrote before passing away. Ashley often meets her at the creek where they talk about Ashley's dad and what Ashley is going through. I think that this friendship was very important for Ashley and helped her workout a lot of what she was going through. Charlotte and Jordan really made Ashley face reality and deal with life. The Truth About Letting go as a very strong story with very real issues and emotions. You can't help but feel for Ashley and root for Jordan. It shows us that even though we may go through some tough times in life you can always get through it with the help of good friends and family. If you like contemporary reads you will love this book. Leigh Talbert Moore draws you into her story and her characters.

Things I Can't Forget

Things I Can't Forget - Miranda Kenneally I bow down to Miranda Kenneally and her awesome writing skills. Things I Can't Forget is such a powerful story about beliefs, faith and how the definition of right and wrong might not be so black and white."But Emily made a mistake. I use my black coloring pencil to shade her hair. My red pencil fills in her lips, turned upside down in a frown. And then I made an even bigger mistake: I helped her."In this story we meet Kate a teen who loves God, art and her family. She is very strong in her faith having been brought up in the church. She feels she was taught right from wrong and that it is a fine line you cannot stray from. But when her best friend Emily finds herself in a jam and needs Kate's help she comes to the rescue but at what price? Kate feels guilty and it is a guilt that she carries around with her."My dad says gossip never goes away, no matter where you are in life."I really found myself identifying with Kate. While I was never as strong in my beliefs as Kate is, I can relate to always wanting to do the right thing and worrying when others are straying to far from the correct path. When Kate goes to camp to be a counselor and reconnects with Matt, who she knows from attending the camp herself it's a true test of her faith and her beliefs. Matt is the lifeguard at camp who is definitely someone that Kate likes looking at. These two have some laugh out loud moments. When Matt starts flirting with Kate she is unsure of how to handle it. She has never had a relationship before and what's worse Matt not only attended the camp with her when she was younger, he was also her first kiss! will Kate be able to stay strong in her faith or will Matt be able to get the girl and get under Kate's skin?"Your truth isn't everybody else's truth. Your beliefs matter right? he asks."I really found Kate to be quite naive. She assumed that just because she was going to church camp that everyone there had the same beliefs that she does. What she found when she got there was counselors who cursed and met each other behind the cafeteria for a little "fun". Maybe if she talked to me before signing up to be a counselor I could have let her in on what really goes on at camp.Throughout this book Kate has this inner fight with herself going on. Should I? Shouldn't I? There are many times that Kate's faith is tested and not just in regards to Matt and her feelings for him. When she first arrives at camp she is paired up as co counselor with Brad, or as he likes to call himself "Bumble Bee Brad". While swimming Kate notices that Brad where's a shirt despite having an amazing six pack of abs that she can see. She also notices some marks on his arms. Once Brad finally tells Kate his story she is torn with what she should do. Lie and sin? Or keep her friends secret and possibly save him from what he is going through? I think this is one of the friendships I liked most in this book. Even though we don't see a ton from Brad I think this friendship and the fact that she could really be there for him helped Kate see that sinning isn't always a bad thing when it is helping someone.Kate is an amazing artist and it something that she truly loves. She uses her art almost like a diary throughout the book, sketching different scenes that have taken place in her life and mean something to her. Anytime Kate tells us something that happened in the past it is always through her sketches. I really liked this idea and thought it was a very creative alternative to a traditional diary. Kate's sketches are how she gets her feelings out. While this book does talk a lot about religion, I really feel that people who are non-religious will be able to enjoy it as well. I did find myself getting frustrated with Kate at times and just wanting her to relax and not take everything so seriously. I felt like she needed to stray from that fine line she was walking and take a little stroll on the wild side. Miranda Kenneally really knows how to show a characters personal growth in her writing While Kate did not grown by leaps and bounds she did show personal growth which I loved to see for her."For the first time ever, I'm beginning to feel like something -someone-is more important than anything." The love interest in this book, Matt, is nothing short of amazing. He is sweet, caring and understanding. Perhaps the most wonderful thing about Matt is that he plays the guitar, sings and writes his own lyrics. What is not to like about that? Like Kate, Matt has a past as well. He is a broken man who has gone through a tough break up and it is hard for him to trust. Kate and Matt have some very romantic moments that just make you swoon completely. Plain and simple Matt is every girls dream. He is most definitely my favorite character from Kenneally's books so far."My favorite is when an eight-year-old girl named Lizzie sings "Jesus loves Me" in the purest voice, and when she gets scared and I think she might run off the stage, Matt sings along with her as he strums his guitar. Leaning against a tree, as bugs chirp around me, as warm wind rustles the branches, that's when I know it for real. I want him." We also get to see some more of Parker and Will in this book. I fell in love with these two in Stealing Parker. Jordan from Catching Jordan also makes an appearance. If you have not read these two books you should really get on that and then when you are done pick up Things I Can't Forget. You will not regret it. This is one that will be taken off my self and reread many times to come. Happy reading.

Wait for You (Wait for You, #1)

Wait for You - Jennifer L. Armentrout, J. Lynn I devoured this book and I would happily devour Cam as well.He was gorgeous in all the ways that made girls do stupid things. he was tall, a good head or two taller than me and broad at the shoulders, but tapered at the waist. An athlete's body-like a swimmer's. Wavy black hair toppled over his forehead, brushing matching eyebrows. Broad cheekbones and wide, expressive lips completed the package created for girls to drool over. and with those sapphire-colored eyes, holy moley...Holy moley is right and boy did I ever drool over Cam. I thought it fitting that this review start with him. He is not just eye candy though, he is sweet, caring and a bit arrogant. While I have swooned over many a fictional character, nothing compares to Cam. I am not sure what I could say that would actualy do this book justice but I will give it a go.Avery is an awkward girl who has had some stuff happen to her in her past that she had decided she needs to run from. She leaves her parents home in Texas and decides to go to college in West Virginia. It is here that she meets Cam. They run into each other on the first day of classes, literally. It doesn't stopped there, they continue to run into each other. You can just tell that there is this attraction between them. Avery doesn't make it easy on the poor guy. She turns him down left and right. I was kind of surprised he kept asking. Cam also has a past that he is not proud of. They also have this great banter that left me laughing.Biting down on my lip, I sat a few feet away from him and then busied myself with finding my Astronomy notebook. As I pulled it out, I glanced over at him and our eyes locked. I couldn't look away. Intense. that was the first word that came to mind. His stare was intense, like he was seeing right through me.There are some very deep emotional issues that Avery has to work through before she can truly be with Cam. It was hard to see her go through this. The worst part is that she didn't even have a support system in her parents, they sold her out. She doesn't feel like she can open up and talk to anyone about what happened to her. I couldn't ever imagine being in her position For everything that she has been through she is so strong. Her mother is absolute bitch with a capital B! I did find myself upset with Avery at times, I wanted her to open up to Cam so bad. But I understood why she couldn'tI started to laugh, but it got stuck in my throat. Coming home was in my best interest? The woman was crazy. Just talking to her made it feel like I got the crazy on me.Cam also has something in his past that he is not proud of. He is afraid to tell Avery, afraid that it will make her leave. These two need each other so bad and neither one of them realizes it. They were both frustrating and amazingly beautiful all at the same time. The characters really make this story. I loved Avery and her strength and social awkwardness I loved Cam and how protective he was of Avery. The fact that he is hot and swoon-worthy didn't hurt either. Jacob and Britt who befriend Avery are hilarious. I loved there friendship and how they were there for Avery. I have to say I even loved Raphael the turtle Yes, Cam has a turtle named Raphael (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). Raphael gives us some laugh out loud moments. Especially when we are introduced to Michelangelo.I cannot recommend this book enough. If you have not read it you really should. It is definitely for mature eyes only. You get everything with this story, romance, humor, steaminess, love and heartbreak. I cannot wait to read more stories like this from J. Lynn. She really knows how to write an amazing male lead character that you can't help but fall for. Hands off though Cam is mine. Happy reading.Everything was okay. Maybe not perfect, but life wasn't meant to be perfect. It was messy and sometimes it was a disaster, But there was beauty in the messiness and there could be peace in the disaster.
Never Too Far - Abbi Glines Abbi has done it once again. She has a knack for writing characters that you just can't help but fall in love with and get wrapped up in their lives. Just an FYI this book is for mature eyes. It is most definitely rated R.While I do love Rush and Blaire I think my favorite character in this book is Woods. I cannot wait to read his book and get to know his story. Woods wants to protect Blaire and will do anything for her. Rush has his moments where he is sweet and caring and then he also has those times where he was a major screw up and I just wanted to smack him.Rush is a mess since Blaire left him and when he finds out she is back in town he is willing to do whatever it takes to get her back. He wants what he feels is his. I have to say I was very happy that Blaire wanted to take control of her life and show everyone that she could do it on her own. She didn't want to be taken care of and I really admired her determination. The biggest thing that stopped me from giving this book a 5 star rating was the ending. Originally this was going to be it for Blaire and Rush's story. I have heard that Abbi has decided to write another book for Rush and Blaire. I think this is a really good idea. The ending really kind of bothered me. It didn't feel to me like their story got the closure it deserved. An epilogue would have been nice to see what ends up happening to them. But it definitely didn't feel finished.I would recommend this book and any other book by Abbi Glines. She is an amazing author and can certainly write some steamy scenes as well as some emotional ones. Happy reading.

Nobody But Us

Nobody But Us - Kristin Halbrook I have to say I am not really sure how I feel about this book. I have a bit of a love hate relationship with it I guess you could say. I am just left very undecided. I did find myself wanting to keep reading and see what happened. I was curious as to where the story would head. However I really did not find myself having a connection with the characters like I usually do and I really can't pinpoint why. Not that I didn't care what would happen to them because I obviously did hence the reason I kept reading.I will definitely read other things Kristin Halbrook writes. It think her writing is great. We find out so much about the characters Will and Zoe and their traumatic pasts. It is a heartbreaking story of two teenagers who are on the run from their past and along the way they make many mistakes. Their ultimate goal is to have a better life together. Will is in a group home and Zoe is abused by her father and her mother passed away. They go on the run trying to reach Vegas and start a life together. I had a bit of a problem with this seeing as Zoe is 15 and Will is 18. Will has the best intentions to get her away from her abusive father, show her what love really is and take care of her. He just doesn't seem to go about it the right way.I really was much more into it during the second half of the book. The ups and downs these two go through were heartbreaking. The ending was a huge shock to me. I really did not see it going that way!! If anything I would recommend you read this book just for the shock the ending will give you. All in all it was a quick, heartbreaking, good read with a few flaws. But nothing that I couldn't overlook or that stopped me from wondering and speculating what would happen next.

Dear Cassie

Dear Cassie - Lisa Burstein I was given this review copy from the publisher in exchange for a honest review.I really enjoyed reading Dear Cassie. There is not a book I have read lately where I could relate to the main character as much as I did Cassie. She is snarky, crass, stubborn and has been through some tough stuff.Cassie is sent to Turning Pines wilderness camp after she is arrested on prom night with her friends. She knows there is really another reason other than her arrest that she was sent there. However, she refuses to talk about it with anyone. I couldn't put this book down I wanted to know so bad what Cassie was beating herself up about, literally beating herself up. When I finally found out what it was I saw that I could relate so much more to her than I thought. Although I chose a different path than she did.At camp Cassie meets Nez and Troyer who are both just as messed up as she is. Nez is a compulsive liar and Troyer doesn't speak. She also meets Ben who just wants to get to know Cassie and accepts her flaws and all. But after all that Cassie has been through she just can't seem to open up to him or anyone else.Cassie is so vulnerable and raw in this book. It really makes you think about mistakes you yourself have made and kept inside. Cassie was also very easy to like with her no nonsense attitude. She was even more likable in those moments where she was so exposed and vulnerable.I would actually like to read another book about Cassie. See what happens to her and where her life goes after the end of this book. I would highly recommend this book if you like young adult contemporary. What's not to like about a snarky and hilarious female lead character?QuotesBut there was also the stuff that I couldn't let myself feel. The heat that filled my skin when Ben got close, the shiver in my chest when he spoke to me, the way his touch made everything else vanish. What I want to remember, what I need to remember, is that no matter what I do, I will never be the same.As long as I lived I would have this secret and there would be people who would be able to use it against me because of the power I gave it. Because of the power it had over me.
